How We Met
I had just moved from Wichita, KS to Little Rock, AR to open a business and after being here about a week I decided to get on a dating app to meet someone. I lined up four dates in four nights and Kayla was my very first one. We hit it off right away and shared the same values and family life and I knew she was someone I wanted to see again. I still decided to go out with another woman the next night but it was so awful after it was over I went home and canceled the rest of my dates and it was Kayla and me ever since!
How They Asked
Kayla loves a lot of things but there is one thing she loves more than anything and that is Christmas, especially Christmas lights. I knew she wanted a Christmas engagement more than anything but when my dad passed away early December it was the last thing on her mind.
A few days before he died he and I spoke about life, family, and marriage and he asked me what I was waiting for. I already knew I wanted to marry her but it was that talk that cemented it for me.
Life is just too short to wait for something you know you want. I went and bought the ring and then chartered a helicopter for us to go look at Christmas lights around town. With the help of my mom and sister, I had a light display built asking her to Marry Me.
It was spelled out in 10’ tall letters made of Christmas lights. We flew over the display about ten minutes into the flight and when she realized what was happening she looked at me and I had the ring. The rest is history!
