Andrea and Patrick
Patrick and I met on 7/23/05 when my friend invited me to go to her Dad’s boss’ Lake House..Her twin brother had invited Patrick as well. We were both hesitant to go since we didn’t know anyone, but our friends were persistent! That trip, Patrick and I hung out, chatted, played games, etc. We had a great time of getting to know each other, and at the end of the weekend, Patrick and I said our goodbyes.
A week later, my friend was leaving for a month, so I stopped by her house to say goodbye. Shortly after I arrived, I noticed Patrick pull up too – I was happy and surprised to see him! Before we all left, Patrick approached me and said “we should hang out sometime.” He gave me a smile (which I loved) and I gave him my number. A week later, he called me to ask me on a date. After that first date we started to hang out more and more, and the rest is history!
how they asked: Patrick proposed to me on Christmas Eve, 2010. We arrived to his sister’s house really late in the evening after everyone in his family (including my own – which I had no clue about!) got there. At his sister’s house, Patrick looked at me and said “You know I love you so much. Are you happy? Do you love me?”
I looked at him and said “Is everything okay? Of course I am happy. I love you too…”
He grabbed my hands and took me into the living room where there was a beautiful Christmas tree. He looked around the room and said, “Everyone, may I have your attention!? I am so glad we are all here to celebrate together. This is Andrea’s first Christmas here with us, and Andrea, I am truly glad you are here.”
Next thing he said hinted for my family to come out from hiding – again, I had no clue they were coming!
“You are now here with your family and friends who all love you dearly. You are my best friend and someone who I always look forward to seeing and speaking to everyday. I would love to spend the rest of my life with you and with this ring I would like to ask you…Will you marry me?”
I was so nervous that it took me a minute to realize my family was there. It was so overwhelming and emotional, I couldn’t stop crying…it was truly magical and beautiful! I of course said “Yes, I will marry you!!” I am so thankful that both of our families were able to be there!
