Andrea and Mark | Photoshoot Proposal in Florida
How We Met: Mark and I knew of each other in high school and had plenty of mutual friends. Our paths didn’t cross again until 2011, when our group of friends started hanging out with one another. We eventually went on a few dates and became a couple on August 15, 2011 and have been inseparable since.
how they asked:About 2 weeks ago, I received a message from a friend, who has just started a wedding/event company, asking if Mark and I would be interested in being models for a photo shoot. I immediately responded saying how fun it sounded! I spoke with Mark who was all for it (he wanted to model when he was younger, so this was the perfect chance for a late discovery!). I confirmed that we would both love to help out with the shoot.
It was scheduled on 4-26-14 at 5:30. The shoot was a bohemian/garden wedding inspiration and we were asked to dress the part. We arrived at Drake Ranch and were in awe at how beautiful the scenery and setups were.
We took pictures at three of the locations, then went to the fourth location for the final shots. This was supposed to be a “proposal picture.” They positioned us and Mark dropped to one knee with the lovely Wal-Mart ring in hand ready to pose for the picture.
Then, all of a sudden, he reached into his pocket and pulled out something that caught me completely by surprise. A REAL ENGAGEMENT RING! He then gave me a beautiful speech, but my mind was racing in a thousand different directions. I honestly don’t remember anything other than him telling me that I was the love of his life and he wanted to spend forever with me.
After a minute of trying to get my composure, my response was, “yes, duh.. of course”. The aftermath was tons of excitement, kisses, hugs and complete happiness. Lucky for us, they even had a bottle of champagne to celebrate!
As we were leaving the ranch I tried calling about 8 people and no one answered the phone. I was so excited and wanted to share our special moment with everyone, and since no one was answering I just wanted to shout it out to anyone who was around. Mark reassured me and said, “Just wait until we get home and we can tell everyone in person.” I agreed, and then realized we were turning left out of the ranch instead of right towards home. We pulled into Stumpknockers (a local restaurant) to find both of our families there waiting for us!
Somehow, everyone knew about the proposal and managed to keep it a secret from me! I’m still surprised by the fact that no one gave it away, especially my mom. My hands didn’t stop shaking for almost an hour after the proposal and I could not stop staring at my ring and my fiancé!
I am so thankful for all of our friends and our families for supporting us in this engagement, and I can’t wait to plan our wedding and start our lives together!
