Andrea and Frank Howard

How We Met

Frank Howard and I have always known of each other but we were ultimately just Facebook friends. I truly believe that God brought this man into my life, and I’m a firm believer of everything happens for a reason. Ever heard the line that God removes things from your life to make room for greater things? Our story wouldn’t be complete without telling the whole truth. I had been in a relationship with someone for 6 years. He ended up cheating on me, getting her pregnant, leaving me confused, and then marrying her. So two months later, on June 23rd, 2017, when my office phone rang on a Friday afternoon at 4 pm, I had no idea that it would change my life forever. Frank was on the other end of the phone and he wanted to ask for my cell phone number so that he could ask me out the “proper way!”. Caught off guard, and a little flattered, I gave him my number. We went on our first date that Sunday and we were out listening to live music until midnight! I was in no way looking to start dating anyone at that time but little did I know, that this man would soon become the love of my life.

How They Asked

For my birthday this year in May, Frank Howard gave me a card with a flight itinerary in it. Except for the only information on it was our names, everything else was redacted. Frank has always been surprising me since our very first days together. He’s pulled off flights to Chicago without me having any idea before so I knew this was legit. Friday, June 21, 2019, started with a text from my boss asking if I could take her to the airport for her trip to Colorado. I said I would help and our other co-worker said she would, too. We all left the office headed towards the airport. We pull up to the door to drop her off, and as I’m getting out of the car I hear Frank Howard say “Hey!” That’s when I realized that we weren’t taking my boss to the airport, they were taking ME to the airport. He pulled it off. Frank tells me we are going to New York, again! Saturday morning we head to our reservations at Sarabeth’s in Central Park. We have a wonderful breakfast with French toast and Bloody Marys. Frank Howard also had lunch reservations at the Tavern On The Green for us, so he had made the suggestion that we just walk around Central Park after breakfast. The day was beautiful. We decided that we would sit on the rock to “people watch!” There was a couple getting married, dogs walking, pictures being painted, just tons of people enjoying that beautiful day. On the flight in, I had asked him why he decided to come back to New York. He just kinda shrugged it off as no big deal. So while we were sitting there He leans into me and said “You asked me why I brought you back to New York and I couldn’t give you an answer then, but I brought you back here because last year, it was here, in this park, that I knew this was the place I was going to ask you to marry me!” He stands up and pulls out the perfect ring and gets down on one knee.

It was there that I said “yes” to the greatest man that I have ever met. I looked up to see photographers capturing our moment, people clapping around us and watching us get engaged. We made all of our phone calls and made our way to our lunch reservations. As the hostess was taking us to our seats, I noticed my future sister in law standing there. Shocked, my eyes start to pan the room and there are all my best friends, my sister, and his two sisters! I couldn’t believe that these 6 women were in New York to celebrate with us! I felt incredibly special. He pulled it off again. Come to find out, they were all in Central Park, in disguises, watching us get engaged. The celebration then moved on to the Yankees game and ended with a night out! It was truly a day that I will never forget. Frank Howard made me feel like the most important girl in the world that day, and I know he will continue to do that for the entirety of our lifetime.
