How We Met
Chris and I met in college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was from Florida and I was from Kansas. We started working together for a student organization and became best friends. After a while I thought to myself WOW this is a really good guy, actually the perfect guy for me! I guess he felt the same about me as well. Even though we liked each other, there were other forces keeping us apart. We graduated college and decided to go our separate ways, I mean how can a Kansas girl and a Florida boy make it work. A few months later I got a surprise visit from him and sparks flew all over again. But again, how can we make this work? My father always told me the Love Train only comes around so often so if you don’t jump on it when you feel it is right, it might never come back. So that’s what I did. I took a chance on love and moved to Florida to be with him. It has been the best two years of my life. We started a family with our dog Astro, and are working on our careers. We compliment each other so well, I can’t imagine spending the rest of my days with anyone else.
how they asked
He had planned a surprise cruise for us a couple of weeks ago with the help of some friends. I was completely shocked and excited since neither of us had ever been on a cruise! It was a 4-night cruise on the Disney Magic Cruise ship. We both love Disney so it was amazing that this was our first cruise. We got on the ship and right before we were about to dock off from the Miami port, he said we needed to go take a picture with Sailor Mickey. Now, we can take pictures with the characters throughout the cruise so i wasn’t really up for it, but I went along with it since he really wanted to. We were standing in line and were the 2nd people to get their picture with him. So we went up to take the pictures and after the pictures were taken, he goes “Andrea I have a question to ask you”, so i leaned in and said “Ok, What”. That’s when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was completely caught off guard and even asked him if he was serious. I couldn’t contain the tears and with a happy heart I said YES! The crowd around us were cheering and in that moment I realized I am going to marry the man of my dreams. He was so nervous and accidentally put the ring on the wrong finger, but it was so pure and silly, just like us. We had enough time to call our parents and post a picture and video on-line and then we were off on our cruise with no cellphone reception for three days. It was amazing! We were able to enjoy the first days of being engaged without having our phones constantly going off with phone calls and messages. It was the perfect proposal, perfect ring, and perfect cruise.
