Andrea and Caleb

How We Met: Caleb and I met at a skating rink when I was fourteen and he was fifteen. Before we ever even had a conversation our eyes met, and I know it sounds crazy, but somehow I just knew he was going to change my whole life. I was there with someone else that night but it didn’t stop him. He came over, introduced himself, and hung out with my friends and me all night, and I ended up giving him my phone number. We started talking on the phone for hours every night and meeting at the skating rink every weekend. I would get so nervous and excited about seeing him that I would get sick (how embarrassing)! We dated twice over the course of a year and then went our separate ways. After ending a bad relationship the summer after I turned eighteen, I found Caleb on MySpace (LOL) and reached out to him. They say you never forget your first love and I certainly hadn’t. I’d compared everyone I’d dated to him, and no one even came close. He came to visit me even though he had a girlfriend, and we just completely reconnected. There was an undeniable chemistry between us, and I felt whole for the first time in years. We talked and texted for a few days, and he decided to break up with his girlfriend. We got back together, and the rest is history! Next week, on September 23rd, we’ll celebrate our seventh anniversary.

how they asked: Caleb proposed to me on the beach at sunset the evening before we watched two of our best friends get married. We’ve been talking about getting engaged for awhile and he’d told me it was coming, but I had no idea when it would happen. For weeks before our beach trip, he kept telling me not to expect it on the trip because I would be disappointed. The day it happened, I’d spent the morning at the beach with the bride and he’d spent the afternoon golfing with the groom and their friends. He texted me and told me to be ready to take pictures at the beach when he got back. I got ready and then got worried because it kept getting later and he wasn’t back yet. He finally showed up right before sunset, and he told me how pretty I looked and we headed off to the beach. I kept trying to turn around to put the water behind us for pictures and he wouldn’t let me (one of his friends was sneaking around taking pictures). When he did let me turn around, he said he wanted to take a picture of me first. Afterward he started to be really sweet, and I thought it was just because we’d been apart most of the day. Then he said, “You know I love you and I’m going to marry you, right? It’s going to be next September. Are you ready to be Mrs. Hanna?” Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him with the ring I’d told him I loved five years ago. It was absolutely the most perfect moment of my entire life (so far).
