How We Met
Dolan and I met at a music festival in Milwaukee called Summerfest. We started dating when we were seniors in high school. We fell fast and hard but with college approaching and us going to schools 8 hours apart we knew it wouldn’t be easy. We tried doing long-distance but broke up in the middle of freshman year.
We always stayed in contact and insisted that we were “just friends”. Fast forward to junior year, one date was all it took and we’ve been back together ever since. In January of 2018 Dolan and I moved from snowy Wisconsin to sunny South Carolina. When we moved down here we got the cutest dog named Jordy. Our life was perfect.
How They Asked
I was on, what I thought was a girls’ trip. It was a rainy fall day. My friends were insisting on going to the beach to drink red wine. I was unsure why we would take our new suede boots to the rainy beach, but I’ll do just about anything if there is wine involved. We had just poured our classes and I was taking a picture of my beautiful friends when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and saw Dolan, the man I have been in love with since I was 18. The only words that could come out of my mouth were “Why are you here?” And “Where is Jordy?” (Our beautiful 2-year-old pup).
He took me aside and said the most amazing things, and then in front of the beautiful beach and some of our best friends, Dolan asked me to marry him. Of course, I said “YES!” To top it all off, there was an amazing photographer who captured everything! Dolan then rented an Air BnB for us to stay in with all of our friends. We spent the weekend celebrating with some of the people we love most. I am someone who is very hard to surprise, and somehow Dolan pulled off the biggest surprise EVER! I am so lucky to spend the rest of my life with him.
