How We Met
Terrence and I met through a mutual friend of mine who was dating his friend at the time. They all went to Alabama so we would often see each other at the bars during games. I would always ask my girlfriend when going out if Terrence would be there. Apparently, he would ask if I would be there. After a weekend of finally hanging out 1:1 we were inseparable and never stopped hanging out. 5.5 years later we’re still the best of friends and love Bama football!
How They Asked
Terrence and I have been dating for 5 years. As I planned my birthday trip this year I really wanted to go internationally, so we decided on Aruba! I work for Southwest Airlines and the perks of flying include flying standby if the flight isn’t full. So our first attempt was a success and we made our way south. Planning a hotel last-minute was difficult, let alone any activities because it was all based on if we got on the flight or not.
Little did I know, Terrence planned a private birthday horseback ride through the island for my birthday gift. Back story, my Grandfather owned, bred and raced horses when I was growing up.
He has since passed, but I’ve always wanted to go horseback riding with Terrence because he’s never been. So the gesture was thoughtful, sentimental and special to me. Once we get to a private cove on the island, the tour guide started to take our photos and Terrence got down on one knee and popped the question!! I was in utter shock, but so impressed with how he pulled it off!
And to top it off, he scheduled a professional photoshoot on the beach to remember our engagement and basically it was the best birthday ever!
