Amy and Ricardo
How We Met
Ricardo and I met when we worked together in retail. We worked together for 2 years before we started dating in August 2011 and the rest is history. We have been inseparable ever since.
how they asked
My dream for as long as I could remember had always been to go to New York City. Ever since I watched movies as a child like Home Alone 2 and Breakfast at Tiffany’s I had dreamt of one day walking those streets and visiting all of the famous landmarks. My idol since I was a child was Audrey Hepburn. I dreamt of visiting the Tiffany store on Fifth Avenue and having my own ‘Audrey moment’. At the start of 2015 Ricardo and I finally booked our long awaited trip to New York for September 2015 and I was counting the months, days, hours and minutes until that day arrived!! The morning that we left for the airport I felt like I was in a dream. The day after we arrived in New York Ricardo brought me to Tiffany’s and said I could pick a gift for myself so he bought me a really gorgeous silver necklace. It was my dream come true to have my photograph taken outside ‘Audrey style’!! Afterwards we did some shopping on Fifth Avenue and went for lunch. He then suggested going for a walk in Central Park. It was a beautiful day outside, the sun was shining and the scenery was spectacular ! We went for an amazing stroll around Central Park and took in all the sights and landmarks. Ricardo then suggested we visit the Bow Bridge since he knows what a fan I am of anything girly such as bows :) When we arrived at the Bridge I was stunned by its beauty!! It was so beautiful and had lovely flower arrangements along it. As I took a few photographs I was preparing to move on to the next part of the park when he stopped me to chat about how happy we were together at this moment in the city we always dreamed of visiting. At that moment Ricardo dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him with the most beautiful ring!!!!! I couldn’t have been more shocked or happy!! I said ‘Yes’!!! We rang both sides of our families from Central Park who were delighted with our news. That evening we got all dressed up and went to see our favourite Disney movie Aladdin on Broadway and went to the Plaza Hotel for champagne to celebrate!! It was the most perfect proposal I could have ever hoped for in the city I always dreamed of!! The perfect day :)
