How We Met
Bryce and I met like any other – on Bumble. I’ve always joked that it was “love at swipe right”. We matched fairly quickly and talked for a few days before we officially went on a date, bonding over our love of New Girl. We decided to meet on a Friday night at Burger Republic which was right near where he lived and where I was nannying at the time. I arrived before him so I went ahead and put our name in. When I was done, I started walking outside and saw him (and thanked God I wasn’t taller than him). I said, “Hey, I’m Amy. It’s going to be about a 20 minute wait.” He said something to the effect of no, and we decided to go elsewhere. We ended up at a tiny Mexican restaurant called the Blue Cactus and we clicked automatically. We’ve been together ever since!
how they asked
It was the weekend before my birthday, and my family and I had made plans to celebrate at a winery just outside Nashville, where I live. I didn’t think I’d be seeing Bryce that weekend because he lives in Missouri, and he had just come for a visit a couple of weeks before. We got there in the early afternoon and headed straight to the cellar to do a wine tasting. We did a few tastings, but I got done quickly. My mom kept trying to get me to sample more and take pictures (so she could kill time until Bryce arrived). Unknowing, I ignored her and started walking around the cellar’s gift shop. I look up at one point and see Bryce coming down the stairs. I was so surprised that he’d come all that way for my birthday. I quickly suggested he try some wine, but he was adamant about giving me my birthday present immediately, so we went upstairs instead. When we got upstairs, we walked over to this covered stage and on a little table was a drawstring backpack. He said he had a two-part present for me and had me open a big black box first. (To preface, I am currently getting my masters in education) Inside was a glass apple with my future last name – “Mrs. Young”.
I immediately knew what was coming, so I just looked at him in shock. He then told me how much he loved me and asked me to marry him. I looked over, and both of our families were there cheering for us. Soon after, all of my best friends started showing up and we celebrated the rest of the day. It was beyond perfect.
