how they asked
We were initially planning a trip to South Africa (where I was planning to propose) but we had to cancel it last-minute. We had always wanted to visit Montreal so I suggested we go there instead and I began planning how I would propose. I always wanted to propose somewhere slightly exotic and foreign. South Africa would have been great but I knew Montreal would also be perfect. It has great French culture, particularly in both the food and architecture, and I knew I would be able to find something really special there.
I had hired a photographer (Lindsay Muciy Photography) and we were communicating by text message on the day of the proposal. I had picked out a place under a tree in the courtyard of an old restaurant and Lindsay and her assistant was there waiting for the perfect light. I was so nervous! It got a little tough because the sun and clouds had changed and Lindsay texted me that she wanted to move the proposal time back about half an hour to get the perfect light.
I made up an excuse for Amrit and me to have a quick drink at the bar before we went to our “dinner reservation.” Once we got to the courtyard and I walked to the spot under the tree, I could tell she knew something was up. But it was time to pop the question! After she said yes, we laughed and cried and then we took some more photos around the Old Town in Montreal.
It was a great time and will definitely be a memory we’ll have forever.
