Amber and Rockney

Rockney and I have been together since we were 15. Once we were closer to finishing college, I thought it would take forever for him to propose. The thought left my mind entirely, because we were just too overwhelmed with other things at the moment. Especially shook. One day we had planned to head over to Saint Augustine to go to a quick dinner and catch a movie. Since the weather was cold, windy, and possibly rainy… I decided not to wear a bit of makeup and go causal. (If only I had known otherwise) The restaurant we had chosen to go to wasn’t open yet. So Rock suggested we would go to the beach. although it was cold and ugly weather I agreed, thinking how odd, but ok. As we arrive to the beach I regret my decision because it’s SO cold! We took a quick 5 minute walk. Rockney acting really anxious kept saying he was hungry said it was probably best if we head back. As we walked up towards the land he pointed out this empty wine bottle. I shrugged and said “Yeah, I see it.” He said I should probably go ahead and pick it up because it was littering the beach. It could affect the turtles (I love turtles) so I slowly walked to go pick up this weird bottle. I noticed there was something in the bottle, some type of paper. I told him there was a paper and he told me to pull it out. I looked at him like he was absolutely insane because it was trash. I turned away from him to read what this paper said because it was so windy. As I pulled the paper out my first thought was… We ruined someone else’s proposal!?!? I felt terrible. When I turned around he was on one knee. My jaw dropped. I couldn’t believe of all days MY proposal was not what I expected at all. I kept saying “Are you serious? For real? Are you serious? Are you sure?” The ring he proposed with, was the ring his father proposed to his mother 25 years ago. Due to us finishing school we were both unable to make large expenses. “Amber, I know this isn’t much, but I wanted you to know how much I love you and mean to me. I know I can’t afford a big ring now, but I promise you I will one day. I want to be with you forever.” My heart absolutely melted. Of course I said yes! I look back now laughing at our proposal. It was so unexpected and not even close to what I thought it was going to be. Here we are 2 years later, happily married.
