How We Met
Sometimes things happen that chance, logic, and science can’t explain. Fate is the only way you can describe it. Nathan and I met during a difficult time in my life, I was going through a lot and it seemed my bad days far out weighed the good. One night I had to go to Bed, Bath, and Beyond for a kitchen gadget. This is where fate took its course. We both were looking down the same asile and we stuck up a little conversation. At the end of the conversation numbers were exchanged.
We texted each other day and night for about a month. Then finally we decided we should get together and actually hang out. We originally had a date planned to a science center in Columbus, OH where we are both from. But I couldn’t wait that long! So on St. Patrick’s Day of 2016 I asked him to meet me at a local bar so we could talk and get to know each other better.
From that day on we were inseparable. We still went to our original date plans at the science center, and I think that is the best date I have ever been on. The day was filled with so much genuine fun! We didn’t put a title and make things “official” till April 10th, 2016 though. From the beginning I always knew he was the one. We work so well together and balance out each others strength and weaknesses.
how they asked
Nathan’s plans started rolling into action the day before he proposed, which happened to be my birthday. He came home from work with a silver Porsche and insisted on taking me to a nice dinner. He also insisted that before dinner we go shopping for hiking boots, because I have been long over due for a pair. I wasn’t able to find a pair I loved, but Nathan inisited that we go hiking the next morning at one of our favorite spots.
Waterfalls have kinda been our thing on our adventures and vacations. The morning after my birthday he planned for us to get up early and go hiking at Hocking Hills State Park here in Ohio. I didn’t think anything of it because Hocking Hills is one of our favorite places to explore. I was also the first place we ever hiked at together! Before we left, I asked if we could take our dogs with us and he told me no! They always come with us, so I was kinda annoyed they wouldn’t be joining us on this adventure.
On the way to Hocking Hills Nathan was going so slow! I kept telling him, “you have a porche for the weekend, and you aren’t even going the speed limit.” Little did I know he was allowing for all of his plans to fall into action.
When we got to Hocking Hills we started at the Upper Falls, There is a bridge right above the falls and when I went to look over the falls he pushed me to the other side of the bridge distracting me with something in the water and taking a couple selfies to buy time. We then took the steps down to the falls, he had me looking at the falls with his arms around me. He told me how much I meant to him and that he would do absolutely anything for me. When we got down to the falls I noticed a couple people had their pups with them and I said, “I wish our pups were with us” and he quickly replied ” What would you say if I could make that happen?” the next thing I know our pup daisy came running toward us and had a little back pack on, our other pup, gunner took the opportunity to make new friends.. there is a reason Daisy had the backpack (LOL). Nathan then pulled a book out of the backpack for me to read, this is the moment I figured out what was going on. I wasn’t in complete shock. Reading the book I started shaking and crying. the last page changed our lives forever with the words “Will you marry me?” I looked up and Nathan got the ring out of Daisy’s backpack, then he got on one knee. It was in that moment that he asked me the easiest question I have ever had to answer.. of course I said “yes!”
We then embraced for a long hug and Nathan whispered in my ear, “You will never be alone.” I then noticed that both of our families were there to witness it, along with other park goers that cheered for us. Having both our families there meant so much to the both of us. His bother has been into photography for about a year now and he even caught the special moment on camera.
Then Nathan started pulling out little props and a chalk board with the words “She Said Yes”. So we had our own little engagement photo shoot by the falls. It was absolutely perfect and everything represented us and our relationship perfectly. Literally the best day of our lives.
