How We Met
Dylan and I met in college and instantly hit it off. On our first date, I drove to meet him at his house and he asked if I was okay with dinner and bowling. I looked down at my flip flops and said “sure… but can I borrow some socks?” There was an awkward silence then we both laughed and by the end of the date, I knew that there was something there. It’s been almost five years since that first date and he’s become my best friend, along with our dog Shadow.
how they asked
In the fall Dylan and I decided to plan our first trip to Europe for the following spring. We decided on going to Paris, but little did I know that he also had plans of proposing the whole time! The day of the proposal was one of our last days in Paris. We had woken up early and were enjoying the beautiful spring weather from our balcony when he said to me “Since its one of the last days here maybe we should dress up and go take some pictures in front of the Eiffel Tower?” I, of course, said yes and we headed over to Trocadéro which is a cute little neighborhood directly across the river from the Eiffel Tower. After arriving we walked around for a few minutes and then stopped to have a lady take our picture on Dylan’s phone. When she handed the phone back I was looking at the picture when suddenly I hear a violinist start to play right near us.
Dylan took his phone and took my hands and began to say “Amber, these past five years with you have been some of the best of my life…” Everything else was a blur for me and suddenly he was down on one knee asking me to marry him, which of course I said yes!
The violinist continued to play for us and he whispered in my ear “Did you notice the lady over there is actually a photographer taking our pictures?” I was so surprised and incredibly happy. Then to top it off, he told me that we were going to go do an engagement photo shoot around Paris! I felt like the luckiest girl in the world and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
