How We Met

Alex and I met at LAX in April of 2009. He was there helping a friend and I immediately was attracted to him. He was so handsome! We started hanging out soon after and by August 2009 I had moved to California. By October we were dating and by the following April we’d moved in together. That was 6 years ago! I’ve been with my favorite person and best friend ever since.

how they asked

Alex and I have been dating for over 6 years, after a chance meeting through a mutual friend on the West Coast. Mammoth Mountain and the surrounding lakes area has become a special place for us because of it’s ties to his childhood and it’s similarity to Maine, my home state. We’ve camped and hiked there a bunch, but this was our first time up there together in the winter, so we decided to snowshoe to one of our favorite lookout spots over Lake Mary, across the lake from Crystal Crag. Alex suggested we take some photos of crag, so I promptly whipped out my camera, trying to get a great panorama shot. I turned around and he was walking toward me with a beautiful, hand-carved wooden box and a sweatshirt that read “I’ll love you to the mountains and back.”

He got down on one knee in the snow and proposed…and of course I said yes! It was the most beautiful, private, special engagement. We might only have selfies to commemorate the occasion, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Oh, AND THAT RING! He picked the loveliest, most unique ring I’ve ever seen – totally my style. We spent the rest of the weekend keeping our engagement a special secret for the two of us before returning back to the real world a few days later and sharing the news with friends and family. It’s been a whirlwind since then, and I can only imagine a whirlwind ’til we finally tie the knot, so I’m super thankful our engagement was just for the two of us!
