How We Met
Almost three years ago, I took a summer job at Legoland at the aquarium. It was everything you’d expect working at a theme park, except for once I met Alex. Any shift I worked with Alex went by super fast and I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. One day, he FINALLY asked me if I wanted to go see a movie with him – Guardians of the Galaxy. Even though he picked me up, paid for my movie and got us ice cream he argues it wasn’t a date..Okay sure..we went on several more “hangouts” and before I knew it, he was asking me if he could tell his friends I was his girlfriend. Of course I said yes, and we’ve been madly in love ever since.
how they asked
So, three years later on my favorite day of the year – Christmas, Alex said he had a fun thing to do after presents, but he wouldn’t tell me what. But, he gave me an envelope with “#1” on it, saying that on our first date he didn’t know it was a date but this time he did so he dressed nice. And then he asked me to see a movie with him, the same way he asked me to see Guardians. So on Christmas day we went to see Moana. Then I got a second #2 envelope, explaining how after Guardians we went to get ice cream because we weren’t ready to end the night. However, on Christmas there are no ice cream places open. But he was prepared, he had my favorite Ben & Jerry’s in a cooler in his car and we ate very cold ice cream on the beach, but it was so worth it. Then the #3 envelope talked about all the nights we stayed up till 4am, falling in love on the beach, and asking me to walk down the beach with him on sunset. Little did I know, my cousins were hiding and taking pictures of me. But I was just strolling down the shore, picking up seashells. But we got to some rocks and when we sat down, he started telling me just how much he loves me and every wonderful thing a girl wants to hear as we looked at the sunset. I wasn’t looking at him, so when he said my name and I turned to see the ring, I immediately started crying from shock and happiness. I stopped the tears enough to choke out a YES! I still can’t stop smiling thinking about that day..
