How We Met

Zach and I met during our time as undergrads at Arkansas State University. Although he was a senior and I was a freshman, we had the same Honors Oral Communication class. Over time, I quickly saw that we shared a lot of the same interests and passions. I knew early on that I liked him when he planned one of our first dates at a volunteer event. Ever since, life with him has been so fun!

how they asked

Anyone that knows Zach would agree when I say that he is truly one in a million. He is driven, adventurous, and full of genuine happiness. He exceeds all expectations that I had of a future husband. After three years of dating, he finally asked!

Every year we plan two big trips together. We’ve been all over the country, but this Spring we set out for one of the top places on our bucket list: The Grand Canyon. Throughout the week we hiked, explored, made friends with fellow travelers, tried awesome food, and enjoyed one of the most beautiful areas in the world.

One night after a long hike on the Bright Angel Trail, Zach and I decided to grab a pizza and watch the sun set at Lipan Point. We were surrounded by hundreds of tourists but somehow managed to find a rock in a secluded area to enjoy the night.

While looking out at the canyon, he asked me if I could do this forever. You mean sit on a rock with pizza and blankets while watching the sunset at the Grand Canyon? YES. When I turned around, I saw that he was down on one knee. I’m not sure what he said after that (or what I said haha!) but I could not hug him tight enough. In that moment I was so thankful to God that he found me the most loving, selfless, and patient man to grow old with.

Later on I found out that he had staged a secret photographer to capture the moment with the help of my sorority sister.

It was better than any proposal I could have imagined or read online. I am so thankful that I get to spend the rest of my life with him.
