Trisha and Maeshen's Amazing Capetown Marriage Proposal
How we met: We had met through a mutual friend in 2013 – we had gotten to know each other a bit and about month later we had gone out for dinner and a movie – we were both extremely shy but at the same time could not stop smiling. A month after he had asked me to be his girlfriend. Since then on the 2nd of every month he buys me the most gorgeous boutique flowers to celebrate our dateaversary!
how they asked: My fiancé had planned the most perfect proposal which all took place on the 8th of August 2014 in Cape Town. He had made plans for us to take a helicopter ride from the V&A Waterfront to the venue at the 12 Apostles Hotel. Our helicopter ride had the most gorgeous view of the entire beautiful city. After landing we had been escorted to a romantic picnic set up for the both of us, flowers, champagne, chocolates, snacks, the works… we then sat down and he took our this scrap book which he had made with photographs of special moments throughout our relationship. At the last page of this book he made wrote a letter which led me to a mini hunt for a treasure chest stating that when I do find it will be his best gift. (I had received a key with a pink ribbon from our hotel the night before-he refused to tell me anything or what it was for-just saying I will need it tomorrow sometime.) So I found the box which was gorgeously laser cut with elephants and our initials. I love that he made it so personal knowing I love elephants and it’s something I will forever keep close to me as it will always bring me back to this memorable day. As I opened the box I noticed there was an empty ring box inside, turned around and he was on one knee and said “The greatest gift I could give to you is to love and take of you for the rest of our lives, Trisha Naidoo will you please marry me?” I was completely overwhelmed with feelings of extreme happiness and immense love at the time and of-course I said YES! (The best gift was a ring and greatest gift was to love and take care of me).
After our enthusiastically few minutes of excitement, hugs, kisses and tears of happiness a photographer popped out from behind the tress. My fiancé had hired him to secretly capture this day on video and photos.
This was the best as we can always go back and look at how special and romantic this day was for the both of us. We had a photo shoot done at this gorgeous venue with both mountain and sea views, it couldn’t have been any dreamier. Thereafter we had our snacks, he handed me this photobook back and told me to take a look at the back, I turned to the back and he had wrote down every small bit of planning our proposal!!!!! From asking for my parents blessing to purchasing of the paper for our photobook. How thoughtful of him to do this for me so I know what was happening and to know how much effort was put into this day. I could never express how grateful I am for him and for him taking that extra step to ensure it was perfect but more importantly to ensure our happiness in this fairytale proposal.
I just feel so blessed having him in my life and for him to keep all of this a secret – he must be really good! He is the most amazing and caring person and cannot be any happier to have a gem of a guy.
