How We Met
Scott and I met through mutual friends. At first, I didn’t pay much attention to him. One of my friends had picked me up to go out one night and when I got in the back seat there was Scott. We introduced ourselves and I kept talking to my friend the whole time and we barely spoke. Once at the bar the guys and girls split up. Later that night Scott came and found me and we started talking and hit it off. He was so sweet and we ended up talking for the rest of the night. When we said goodbye he asked me for my number and I even gave him a kiss goodbye.
how they asked
A few months later Scott started taking me out and it was a constant battle of crossing the friend zone line. The night he asked me out he was so nervous that he could barely form a sentence – “Amandaaa… I want you to be my girlfriend” he stuttered – I was so excited and jumped on him and said yes. Ever since that night he showed me what true love was, and continues to love me deeply each day. Scott lived in the NYC when we started dating, so every Friday I didn’t work so that I could go visit him Thursday nights for what quickly became our date night. After a year of traveling back and fourth to the city Scott decided it was time to move closer to me. We moved in together where Scott grew up, and we started to learn more about each other. That’s when we both realized that we were serious. Very serious…
The night Scott proposed to me, I was caught off guard. We had been talking about getting engaged for a while, and I had a hunch it was happening soon. Scott’s best friend Ross had face-timed us and told us that his girl friend Kerri’s friend would be bartending at a hotel near our house; they said that Scott and I should meet them for dinner and drinks. We thought it was a great idea and planned out the night. Scott ordered an Uber to take us to the hotel and it started raining. It was on and off all day at this point so we weren’t surprised. When we got to the hotel I had told the driver to pull us up to the front door so we wouldn’t get wet. Scott then told me that we couldn’t go in the front and that Ross was meeting us in the back. I didn’t understand why at first but when I thought about it I had my OMG moment. He grabbed my hand and took me to the boardwalk behind the hotel. He grabbed my face and said “Amanda you’re my best friend” and that’s when I completely lost it. I literally blacked out and barely remember the rest of what he said. I don’t even remember saying yes. Once he slid the ring on my finger he told me we should go inside. When I opened the door all our closest friends and both our families were all inside waiting for us. It was the best day of my life, and I know there are better ones to come.
