How We Met
We met in college at The University of Tampa in 2011. He was friends with one of my roommates and had asked her about me and if she could introduce us. I did not know much about this guy but was willing to let my best friend introduce us. We both had one month of the semester left and we were able to hang out a few times. He was a senior and graduating that month. After talking we found out we both lived in New Jersey.
I was excited about the potential for a new relationship but knew it would be hard since he was going back to New Jersey and I would stay in Tampa for another year at the University of Tampa. Our relationship started out long distance for the first few months. It was hard but Kevin applied and interviewed for jobs in Tampa so he could be close to me again. His hard work paid off because he was able to move back in March and start his job in Tampa. I was the happiest girl in the world and couldn’t wait to start our love story. I graduated from UT and we moved in together and have been together for five years.
how they asked
Kevin had received a phone call from The University of Tampa Alumni letting him know he had to verify he was a graduate of The University of Tampa. He let me know we were going to brunch Saturday morning but that he had to first drop off the letter he received at the UT library. He parked the car and went into the library. As I was waiting in the car I heard a knock on the passenger side window. It was my best friend and roommate from UT. She told me to get out of the car and come with her. As I got out of the car I saw Kevin waiting by the river with a rose. My eyes started to water as I approached him.
I was so overwhelmed with emotions.
He held my hand and told me how we had met here five years ago and that he was so lucky to have found me and couldn’t wait to spend the rest of his life with me. He asked if I would accept the rose and then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
I was so excited and overwhelmed with emotion but of course said yes! The proposal was the best day of my life and I couldn’t be more excited to spend the rest of my life with my soulmate!
