how we met
The two of us met at prom! He was taking a girl from a grade above me, I was flying solo with some senior friends and their dates. We wound up at the same table since we shared mutual friends and exchanged a very quick hello, but I guess I made an impression on him and he asked his friend to set us up.

Appropriately enough, it happened at home! Summer is especially rainy in Florida, and he had prepared an outdoor proposal but had to keep putting it off because of the rain. Instead of continuing to wait he set up tea lights all over the kitchen and dining room, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him with the ring box tied around the collar of our Shiba Inu puppy, Kenji. It was intimate, perfect and yes, ultimately a surprise.
