How We Met
Ireland is how we met. Well it’s actually how our story started. In May 2015, I went on a missions trip to Ireland. While there, I became friends with a girl from Murfreesboro, TN. This good friend introduced me to Ben in August of that year. Flash forward to March 2016. It was Ben’s birthday and I text him “happy birthday”. From there, we texted for about a month, and when I traveled in April to see the good friend that introduced us, he and I got to know each other better. Well once we saw each, we knew that there was something there.
And as they say the rest is history. Ben is everything that I ever hoped for. He’s been my rock. About a month into dating, I left for another missions trip to Scotland for ten weeks. Before going, I was kinda hesitant about becoming too attached to Ben. However, it kinda happened without me realizing it. He was there when I returned from Scotland, and he’s been there ever since. Now we’re counting down the days until we become man and wife.
how they asked
It was the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which also happens to be my little sister’s birthday. My mom suggested going to Texas Roadhouse (my favorite restaurant) and then going to look at lights for her birthday. Later, my mom also suggested dressing up to take some Christmas photos. Unbeknownst to me this was all planned, Ben remembered that I had wanted to be dressed up and to have my family there when he proposed. Flash forward to that night. We have a nice dinner and then travel into St. Louis to do a walking light tour.
While walking, we find a cute backdrop of lighted Christmas trees and my mom tells us to pose for pictures. Well after doing the standard couple pose, my mom says let’s change it up and she puts us back to back, then tells us to make gun signs. After one photo, my mother then goes up to Ben telling him that he’s doing to pose wrong. Unbeknownst to me, she handed him the ring. That’s the photo pictured above. After turning around Ben got down on one knee.
And the love of my life asked to be his wife. The world literally faded away in that moment. And instead of a resounding yes. I instead said “are you serious?”. Eventually, I was able to answer yes. And from there I took off my purity ring (that my parents gave me on my sixteenth birthday), and Ben placed the ring on my finger.
Now I’m engaged to my best friend, and I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. Every day just gets better. I can’t wait until I get to marry my forever love.
