Alyssa and Tyler
how they asked
When you’ve been together for 9 years, you learn everything about each other. There are even things that your significant other knows better about you than you know about yourself – that’s what makes it special. That’s what I love about “us.” We had a weekend getaway planned, but we always do weekend getaways so there was nothing that had me guessing that we were going to get engaged. Any opportunity to get outside and enjoy what God has put around us, we take advantage of it. We were staying in the mountains for the weekend and Tyler had asked me to find somewhere for us to hike Saturday morning. Little did I know that the spot I CHOSE would be the most perfect spot for HIM to PROPOSE. No additional planning on Tyler’s end, because let’s be honest, men aren’t planners, but he knew I would find the best spot for us to spend our day and for him to do the PERFECT proposal for what represented US.
I didn’t need glam, I didn’t need a show, we needed each other and what we love doing. Once we reached the top of the mountain during our hike we decided to take pictures because the view was breathtaking. We took some group pictures with the other couple that was with us, we took some pictures with our dogs, and then Tyler asked if just us could take a picture. As soon as we handed over the dogs and the camera and posed for the “best picture” Tyler got down on one knee and popped the question. I was in SHOCK, my body went NUMB, and I’m pretty sure I blacked out for a second. The day I had been waiting for, the day the love of my life asked me to be his forever. My friend taking the picture had NO idea this was about to happen and ended up capturing the whole moment even though she was freaking out just as much as I was. Everything about this day and this moment was so personal and extravagant to our relationship while it may seem so simple to the rest of the world. It was everything I had ever dreamed of and there is not a single thing I would change.
