How We Met
Tyler and I met the first day that I got to college in August 2011. He was a quarterback for our university and I was a cheerleader. We dated for all four years of college and then moved to Florida for a job opportunity for Tyler straight out of school. I became an ICU Nurse and we lived there for four years before he received a new job opportunity in Dallas, Texas.
When we moved to Dallas, we lived here for just a few weeks before our apartment complex was involved in a crane accident. We spent 5+ months during 2019 without any of our things, our cars, or our own apartment. This experience only made us stronger. 2020 was a rough year, with Tyler working from home and myself still working as an ICU nurse – we were waiting for that silver lining. In August of 2020, Tyler proposed! We are now planning our wedding for October 2021 and we cannot wait.
How They Asked
Tyler asked me to go on our first real date since Quarantine after the COVID-19 restrictions had started to be lifted. Tyler took me to a nice dinner at Morton’s Steakhouse of wine and steaks. After dinner, he told me that he had a surprise, which I thought was ice cream. Tyler said it was better than ice cream. We arrived at Reunion Tower which is known as “The Ball” in Dallas, Texas. It is an observation deck that overlooks all of Dallas. Tyler told me that there was a new bar upstairs and we were going to have drinks.
After getting off the elevator, Tyler had a set up of rose petal-lined hearts, candles, champagne, and a roped-off section just for the two of us. He hired my favorite photographer, Bree Record Photo from Oklahoma City to capture the moment. Tyler said some beautiful and sentimental words and then got down on one knee and proposed! I SAID YES.
We had a beautiful photoshoot and then Tyler said that we had to go to ANOTHER surprise and that we would call family after. When we walked into the bar at The W, Tyler surprised me with all of our best friends and close family members who had flown and drove in from all over the country to be there to celebrate us. I broke down in happy tears and thought I might faint! We celebrated with everyone all night long and had the best day of our lives … well you know, until the next one!
