Alyssa and Ryan

How We Met

Ryan and I met at college at Eastern Michigan University through a mutual friend and Instagram. Ryan was on the Hockey Team, while I was on the Dance team. He followed me on Instagram a few days before we were introduced and I showed my Mom his pic saying, “isn’t he cute?!” A couple of days later the mutual friend gave me Ryan’s number after Ryan showed the same interest in seeing my pic on Instagram. We started texting and had our first date at Jimmy Johns a couple of days later. Now our wedding ceremony will be held a few blocks away from that same Jimmy Johns and we plan on getting a few pics on our wedding day at the same table where we had our first date.

Alyssa and Ryan's Engagement in Banff, Alberta Canada

How They Asked

Ryan and I were dating just a little over four years when we decided to take our first big international trip together, just the two of us. It wasn’t hard for us both to agree on Banff National Park in Alberta Canada as our destination after seeing how breathtakingly beautiful it is. Little did I know, Ryan had the proposal of a lifetime in the works when he suggested we spoil ourselves and take a trip. Two months before our trip Ryan went and designed my ring and asked my parents for their blessing. On top of that, Ryan was also coordinating with a photographer in that area, who he discovered off of Instagram, to make sure our special moment was captured and to take our engagement pictures immediately afterward.

The morning of, we woke up at 5:00 am to make sure we could beat the crowds to go see the famous Lake Moraine. I thought Ryan just wanted that so it wouldn’t be crowded, but in reality, it was so that the perfect proposal could happen. Once we got there we were one of the first ones there and Ryan was saying there was a certain trail that we had to find. I thought “wow he really did his research on this!” We found the trail and started our mini hike up to the top of a mountain. Once we got up there, Ryan and I took a picture together on our phone and then Ryan said: “let me get one of you overlooking the lake.”

This was his chance to have my back to him and when I turned back around he was down on one knee. The photographer was right there and captured our moment. Ryan and I had dinner plans that night so he told me to pack clothes for dinner just in case we couldn’t make it back to the hotel in time. Sneaky, because that way we both had an extra outfit for our engagement photos!

I couldn’t have dreamed of a better proposal, a more stunning ring and most of all, a more incredible man that I will soon get to call my husband, but for now, Fiancè will do!

Special Thanks
