How We Met
I met Jeremy when he was a trainee instructor for an MMA club and I was a pupil. Jeremy was 13 and I was 11. We became friends the way young kids do and as the years went by and we grew into our teens, our friendship grew stronger. Jeremy became my ‘diary’, the one I could be open and honest with about everything and I became his. I remember him calling me one night and telling me I had to listen to ‘Count On Me’ by Bruno Mars, as it was how he felt ‘we’ were. I think after that, the doors opened for both of us and we started spending more time together and things just developed naturally.
how they asked
Jeremy told me that he booked us in for a balloon ride and weekend stay at the Hunter Valley to celebrate our upcoming 5th anniversary. I’m very hard to surprise but I honestly believed what he told me. I did notice that he was acting a bit weird on the morning of the balloon ride, but I was also aware of his fear of heights, so I chalked it up to that. The balloon ride was amazing, and when we landed, we walked over to have our champagne breakfast with the group who were on our balloon.
As we raised our glasses to the beautiful balloon ride, one of the organisers approached me saying my name had been drawn out of a hat to have a private breakfast on the pier. I never win anything so I was pretty chuffed and quickly said goodbye to the rest of the table and Jeremy and I walked over to the pier. As we rounded the brush, I noticed the beautifully set up table and spotted a photographer.
Before we sat down, Jeremy grabbed my hand and asked me to walk out on to the pier with him. At this stage, I knew he was up to something and I asked him – ‘Did you arrange this?’ He got down on one knee and made his beautiful, emotional proposal. I obviously said yes! I am so looking forward to spending the rest of my life with this beautiful soul, making incredible memories!
