How We Met
Lucas and I met our sophomore year of college. I had just transferred to a junior college in Avon Park, FL to play volleyball and Lucas was starting his sophomore year on the baseball team. He came over to my teammates apartment for dinner one night with his roommate and I thought he was so cute, but out of my league. A few weeks later he texted me and was being pretty flirty. I was so excited that he might be interested in me and even more excited when he asked me to hang out. Once we started hanging out we really just hit it off and three years later here we are!
how they asked
Lucas and I were in a long distance relationship since we both graduated from college over the summer and moved back home. He is from Florida and I am from Texas. He came to visit me in July for about a week and half like he had every summer we’ve been together. We did not have plans to see each other until early December, but I decided I would surprise him for our 3 year anniversary in October. I talked to his mom about it and she thought it was a great idea, so I booked my ticket! It was so hard to keep it a secret from him. The only reason I didn’t just tell him was because I kept picturing the look of shock on his face whenever he saw me. When the day came for me to fly to Florida to surprise him I was so anxious. I got to the airport and his mom had told me she was in traffic and would be late picking me up. Once she got there she told me she was going to park the car and come inside to use the restroom. So she came in and went to the restroom while I waited outside for her. A few minutes after waiting there I noticed out of the corner of my eye a nicely dressed guy walking towards me. When I turned and looked I saw Lucas coming towards me with a vase of my favorite flowers! He gave me a hug, grabbed my left hand, got down on one knee, opened the box to the most beautiful ring I have ever seen, and there in the Tampa International Airport, in front of the women’s restroom, he asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I was still so shocked that he was at the airport I couldn’t even process what was happening. I did manage to choke out a yes and when he put the ring on my finger everyone in the airport started to clap and cheer. Instead of me seeing the look of shock on his face when I surprised him, he got see the look of shock on my face (which he said scared him)! Luckily my mom had made sure I wore something cute on the plane and had gotten my nails done before I left. It was the best surprise I have ever gotten and I am so thankful for everyone who took part in our special moment and helped make it happen.
