Alyese and Jeremy

how we met

Jeremy and I met in the summer of 2018. We were both starting our journey to become certified teachers. Jeremy had just got a job in Troup County as a Middle School Social Studies Teacher 2 days before we met, and somehow was able to get into the certification program 1 day before we met. He would tell you that it had to be Divine Intervention because he was moving from a small town in South Georgia in order to take this job.

The day we met was unlike any other day that we had experienced. It was the second day of our certification class and we were placed in the same group. There was a strong attraction for one another that we could not explain. He was so cute and funny and I could tell he was different. According to him, the first time he saw me he knew he was going to marry me one day. He would go out of his way to talk to me and was so obvious in his attempts to flirt with me. Our entire class caught on to his intentions very quickly but I was more naive. He would come sit at my table every time we had a break and insert himself into our conversations, and then he would ask if he could come to lunch with us. He was so cute.

We quickly became friends and went to lunch together everyday. I was unsure if we would ever date but he was very persistent. He would use the cheesiest pickup lines that he could find on me at least once a day. They were so funny, cute, and unbelievably cheesy , but I wanted to make it a little more challenging for him, so I told him that I needed him to come up with 5 more pickup lines and if I liked them, I would go on a date with him. He had 5 more pickup lines within 10 minutes. Our first date was to the batting cages and archery range. He played baseball in college so I knew he was going to try to show out. He was so patient and encouraging in teaching me how to hit. He lived up to my expectations when it came to baseball. He was very good. However, once we got to the archery range, I was the one who dominated. It was such a fun and memorable first date. We spent the rest of the night talking and getting to know each other better. Before he left, he asked if he could take me on a second date. I told him that if he could up with 5 more pickup lines, then I would go on a second date with him. He had 5 more pickup lines within minutes of leaving, and I have been dating him ever since.

how they asked

The proposal was so funny. It was a complete surprise. One night after our monthly teacher certification class we went to eat at Chick-fil-A. After we finished eating, he took me back to his apartment where he had everything planned and set up. Once we park I tell him that I pretty tired and since I had to drive an hour to get home, I was just going to go ahead and go. He begged me to come upstairs for just a second, but I was exhausted and was ready to go. I was being so stubborn. He was so patient and then asked if I wanted to come up and get some water before I go, so I don’t fall asleep on my way home. He was trying so hard to get me to come upstairs so he could get the ring and propose, but I was so tired and not cooperating at all. After the third time saying no, he then said he had to go to the bathroom and it was an emergency. He took off running toward his apartment.
About 2 minutes later, he called me and told me he fell and hurt his leg and he needed me to come upstairs to help him. I was so scared that he broke his leg. I sprinted up the stairs and quickly opened the door to check on him. As I get into the apartment, there were candles lit and Jeremy was on a knee with the ring in his hand and he asked if I would marry him. This was a very sentimental place for us. It was the first place we went in Lagrange. The first day he got here we were moving his stuff into the apartment. We were just friends then, but it was just the two of us and we got a lot closer that day.
