How We Met
We met on Bumble at the end of 2017. It was December and I really wasn’t expecting to meet “the one” during that time, but after our first date laughing and eating brunch at Bus Boys and Poets in DC – I was convinced. I told everyone I knew that night I wanted to marry him. He was a true gentleman, pulled at my chair, walked me to my car, and spoiled me with tons of desserts that afternoon. We talked for hours & hours each day over our love of travel, passion for Korean food and snacks, and interest in DC museums.
How They Asked
We went to try on rings last winter and I fell in love with one at a boutique jeweler in Durham, NC. I knew Caleb was planning to purchase it and customize it, but I didn’t know exactly when or how he would propose. Once COVID-19 happened, I was expecting nothing more than a proposal at home or in bed. But on Saturday, May 2 he wanted to go out and enjoy a sunny day in Baltimore.
He didn’t tell me where we were going but he definitely got dressed up – compared to the normal sweatpants we wear daily now. The Sherwood gardens in Baltimore was stunning, all of the roses had just bloomed and it was colorful and bright. Knowing me very well, he brought along a few snacks and we took a long walk smelling flowers and looking at houses. Once I got tired walking I found a place to sit in the garden and while I was eating my green tea panda cookies, I pulled out the engagement ring!
When I looked up he was on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I said yes of course and was especially happy that he knew it put it in my snack. I’m ALWAYS snackin!
