How We Met
Jase and I met on my 21st birthday in Santa Barbara. We were both juniors in college. I was attending Pepperdine University in Malibu but would visit Santa Barbara dozens of times to see my best friend. Jason was my best friend’s boyfriend’s roommate who had just transferred to UCSB that year from the Bay Area. He shook my hand when he met me. It was clearly love at first sight for me because I didn’t leave his side the entire night. He did magic and sang and played guitar for me. I was hooked. A couple of weeks later I left to study abroad in Switzerland for the summer. We emailed almost every day and although I was off traveling the world every weekend, I could not wait to come back to my dorm to check my email after every trip. As soon as I was back in the states he drove 4 hours to my hometown only to pick me up another 4 hours to Santa Barbara to celebrate a mutual friend’s birthday. The car ride consisted of stories and games and hysterical laughter. Fast forward to our senior year of college where we committed to a semi-long distance relationship which consisted of beach adventures, ferris wheels, music, magic, and breathtaking views driving up and down the PCH to see each other.
how they asked
Jason asked me to marry him in a cave at my favorite beach in Malibu. It ws simple and thoughtful and both of our sisters were there to help capture the and witness the moment. I remembered taking him to the same beach 5 years ago and taking a photo of him in the same cave. He said when I brought him there all those years ago he knew it would be the perfect place to ask me to marry him. He got down on one knee in the middle of an infinity of hydrangeas and I bawled. Immediately following, we popped champagne and saw dolphins. :)
