On August 3rd, 2013 Kody and I drove up to the Park City Arts Festival where we met his family for a fun-filled weekend. His mom called us on the way up there and told us that she had bought tickets for all of us to ride the Alpine Slide that evening. Kody acted surprised over the phone and said “Ok, thanks Mom! I will let Kelsea know! That will be so much fun!”
We made it up to the Alpine Slide that evening where we hopped on the ski lift while his parents waited for us at the bottom. When we reached the top of the mountain and pulled our seats to the slides, I almost got on the wrong slide and Kody tried to get me on the right slide without being too obvious about it. Kody went down the slide first, then a family friend, then Kody’s little brother and lastly… ME. I remember sliding down the slide, having the time of my life and feeling so excited to tell them how much fun I had.
As I got closer to the end of the slide, I saw people off to the left holding up signs but I didn’t make the connection. Suddenly I realized that the moment I had been waiting for my whole life was finally happening! Kody stood at the very bottom of the slide holding the “ME” sign from the “Will you marry me.” As you can see in the video, I lost it and let go of my break on the slide chair. (Luckily, it stopped on its own..) Kody had to lift me out of my chair and then got on one knee and asked me to marry him! It was the best moment of my life. I felt completely overwhelmed and shocked. I was so excited to see all of the most important people in my life around me. I could not have asked for a better proposal from Kody. He surprised me even though I told him he wouldn’t be able to! I can’t wait to marry the man of my dreams!!
