Allison and Jared

How We Met

When I first met Jared, we were both volunteering in the kitchen at a missionary school I was attending. He kept talking to me, but the dishwasher was so loud that I couldn’t hear anything he was saying. And I was too embarrassed to ask him to keep repeating himself. Not a great first impression. But we’ve come a long way since then!

There was a group of people that played games and watched movies at my school. We were both a part of that group. That is how we really got to know each other. Over the course of almost 2 years, we became friends, and then best friends, and then fell in love!

How They Asked

This past Christmas break, Jared came home with me. I was clueless. Christmas morning rolled around and we all opened presents. We open our presents in our pajamas, so I was still in pajamas. I opened a final present that led me on a scavenger hunt all over the house. My excitement was slowly increasing! The final clue said, “Turn around.” I did and Jared was on one knee under the mistletoe. He was proposing to me!

My best friend! Our family dog actually ran up to him and started licking him. After a couple of laughs and moving the dog aside, Jared started speaking. He said “When I first met you in the kitchen, I didn’t really think I was going to get to know you. Now I have. Would you marry me?” I said yes! Wow! Best Christmas present ever. I am so happy. P.S. I never expected to get engaged in my pajamas!
