How We Met
My sister took a trip down to the University of Notre Dame to visit her boyfriend of 2 years and I decided to tag along to get away for the weekend. The second night I was there, I decided to go to a party with some of my sister’s boyfriend’s roommates. We arrived at a house party where I started talking with this really cute guy. He got my number but had to leave quickly due to him hosting football recruits that weekend. The next day he texted me and made plans with me to get coffee before I left to go back home. He picked me up in his big green truck, we drove to Starbucks, and what was supposed to be a 30 minute to an hour-long coffee date, turned into us staying 4 hours talking about life, despite Starbucks closing only an hour after we got there. He dropped me off at the house I was staying at and not too long after, I received a text that was intended for his brother, stating that he met a girl and really liked her. After that, I knew I was in for something great!
How They Asked
Isaac plays football for the Los Angeles Chargers and their social media team asked me if I wanted to host a podcast called “The Better Half,” a show that talks about NFL life from the perspective of wives and girlfriends. I met with their social media department a few times and we decided for the first podcast to film at a local hotel that had an amazing view of Huntington Beach and the ocean. We arrived at the hotel and got set up with headsets, microphones, and glasses of wine. Our first guests on the show were good friends of ours that had been married for over a year.
The podcast started and we dove into how they met, got engaged, and what their wedding was like. About 30 minutes or so had passed and I began to wrap up the podcast, saying thank you to them for coming on the show and discussing what great things were to come for the podcast. Our friend began talking about how thankful he is for his wife and handed it over to Isaac, asking him how he feels about me. Isaac began saying all these amazing things about how grateful he was for me and how he loves doing life with his best friend.
Then he said, “Well how do you feel about spending the rest of your life with me?” he took off his headset and proceeded to get down on one knee. Then he asked if I would marry him and of course, I Said Yes! But that’s not where it ends. He had set up the most perfect night for the two of us. He got us an ocean-facing room at the hotel where he had our friends decorate with streamers and laid out outfits Isaac had bought for me to change into to wear to a get together with all of our friends.
We spent the next 2 hours calling our friends and family, then got ready and headed over to our friend’s beachfront home. He had an event planner decorate the beach for a boho picnic-style party and had all of our friends waiting there to congratulate us. We spent the rest of the night listening to music, hanging out with friends, and celebrating. Best day of my life! I Said Yes!
