How We Met
We met over Tinder! My father actually recommended I go on, which is hilarious. I went on and the first day, I matched with Eric. He sent me the cheesiest line, which I’m all about the cheese. He said, “It looks like you’re 42 miles away, I thought Heaven would be a lot further”. We started to talk and eventually exchanged phone numbers. Through text and phone calls, I made him wait TWO months before meeting in person because I was so nervous. However, once we did have our first date in Ann Arbor, it felt like we knew each other for a lifetime. We didn’t want the date to end. A week later, Eric asked me to be his girlfriend while playing a game of 20 questions on a church steeple.
How They Asked
On August 24th, 2019, on my father’s birthday, Eric surprised me with a trip to a hot air balloon festival to celebrate our upcoming 4 years together. Instead of gifts, we always got each other experiences as well and I adore hot air balloons. I started to cry just knowing we were going to watch them in the sky!
Once Eric told me we’d be riding it on as well, I started to cry, even more, knowing how much he cared for me to make that happen. It was a bucket list item for me! As we were up in the sky, taking in the views, the captain asked if we wanted to take a photo, but was secretly recording and caught the whole proposal on video! It was so magical and such a special moment. Truly one of the best days of my life.
Once everything started to settle down and I was processing our engagement, I thought the surprise was over; however, once we landed, the balloon crew had champagne ready for us, and one of the best surprises of all, Eric had his parents and my own waiting for us to celebrate. That was just the icing on top. Very emotional and tender! We danced and drank in celebration and once it was time to drive back home, Eric had even made a love song playlist for us to listen to. The entire day was absolute perfection.
