Allison and Daniel

Image 1 of Allison and DanielHow we met: Daniel and I first met on September 6th, 2012 at a party at his fraternity house at The University of Alabama. I was a sophomore and he was a junior and you could say I was more then impressed with his charm. I remember going home and telling my mom all about him, even though we had only talked for about five minutes. As it turns out, we had both texted our mutual friend about how interested we were in each other the next day. I thought he was the most precious, tall, handsome, funny, “older boy” I had ever seen. The next week he texted me and invited me to a cocktail party they had that following weekend. Of course I said yes! We ended up hitting it off right from the start. That date party was one for the books; I had never had a first date like it. Since then I have been head over heels for the boy and we have been happily together ever since!

how they asked: It was the spring semester of my senior year in college. Daniel had graduated the year before and long distance was actually working out for us. It was a Wednesday at the end of March and me and six of my very best friends were taking graduation pictures at “The Cliffs” which is a really pretty area in Tuscaloosa, about twenty minutes from campus. We were told that these pictures were a graduation gift from my good friend Lindy’s, parents. So we are taking the pictures, trying to be all cute, energetic, and “model like” and the photographer handed us a gift bag. We open it to find a bottle of champagne to cheers with. After celebrating and sipping our champagne, she pulls out a letter. Thinking it’s from Lindys parents, she goes on to read it allowed. It tells us all about how much we have accomplished here at Alabama and how life-long the friendships will be that we made here. After a little tear or so, she pulls out yet another letter.

This one begins with 1 Corinthians 7:7 “I wish that all men were as I am. But each man has his own gift from God; one has this gift, and another has that” and it goes on to say, “In reality, I know that my gift is you.” It then reads: “In the last letter it talked about a we, but to tell you the truth, it is an I writing these letters.” At this point in time everyone is in a sure state of confusion. The turning point of the story is the next sentence when he says, “We first met on September 6th, 2012, and since that day you have stolen my heart.” After hearing this I am in a state of shock and am overwhelmed with confusion and excitement. I instantly break into tears when it finally hits me what’s happening. The letter ends with “Allison, ever since we met, it feels like I have waited a lifetime for this moment to arise. Ladies, can you please escort Allison to the lakefront where I would like to personally speak to her.” I think to myself, “There is no way this is real life.” You can imagine my confusion considering it’s the early afternoon in the middle of the week and he lives over three hours away.

I begin making my way down the hill, leaving my belongings behind. With my friends following and excited, we suddenly see the top of a tent…

I cry at the sight of him, dressed in a seersucker baby blue suit standing awaiting my entrance. There are three church pews next to him and I soon recognize my parents and his in one of them and a group of his good friends in the other. I make my way down the lantern trail and run to him overcome with joy. He takes my hands and walks me over to a table decorated with scrapbooks of our two years together. He then went on to tell me how much he loves and cares for me, I was so stunned I’ll never remember, and proceeds to get down on his knee. I respond with a big “Yes, Yes, Yes” and jump into his arms, forgetting completely about the ring.

I can honestly say that this was the one of the most surprising, unbelievable, happiest day of my life. Daniel couldn’t have done a better job and I am so proud to wear his ring and to now call him my Fiancé. A life with Daniel has always been my dream and I could not be more thrilled about what the future will bring!
