How We Met
We are both from a small town called Corbin, Kentucky also known as the place with the first ever KFC. We first met when we played on the same church league basketball team when I was about 6 years old. Fast forward a few years later to when he first dated my big sister, second my best friend, then finally lucky number three me. We started dating when he asked me to be his girlfriend at the movies when I was fourteen years old. I was a freshman in high school and Andrew was a sophmore. We’ve been together ever since. He’s my high school sweetheart.
how they asked
Me and Andrew both attend the University of Kentucky and rarely ever get to go back home to our hometown. Somehow we got it worked out to get to go home on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Side note: For my high school graduation present Andrew made me a scrap book with pictures, ticket stubs, etc. of all big moments in our relationship. Back to the proposal, we make it to Sunday and I’m sitting at home on the couch and I get a text message from him asking me to come outside. I walk outside and he hands me the scrapbook he had made for me and tells me that he fixed a page that was messed up and wanted to show me. As I’m flipping through I get to the very last page that reads “Will you marry me?” and look up to see him down on one knee with the most beautiful custom made engagement ring (that I couldn’t have picked out better myself) asking me to spend my forever with him. My front porch is where alot of our relationship happened first kiss, first I love you, and now our proposal. He told me he wanted me to be completely surprised and wanted it to be somewhere that meant so much to us. In the moment I was so shocked that I had to ask hours later if I even said yes. His brother caught the whole moment on camera by hiding behind the neighboring house. Both of our familes were there to witness it all and we even went all around town telling and showing all our friends and family. I am still in shock and cannot wait to marry the man of my dreams.
