Allie and Jason

Proposal Ideas Disneyland, New Orleans Square

How We Met

We connected on Match.com in late February of 2016 and set up our first date. I was Jason’s first date on Match, and he was my second date from Match. I was immediately interested in meeting him because I found him handsome, fun, and TALL (he’s 6 foot 9 inches tall, and I am 6 feet tall). We met at Granville in Burbank after I got off work in early March 2016, and we stayed there for 3.5+ hours (until they closed); we connected on so many topics, and as I got to know him better, I knew I wanted to spend more time with him.

After our first date, we didn’t date anyone else—and in early May of 2016, we went to Disneyland together. During the fireworks on Main Street, I told him I loved him; he was totally shocked because he had planned to tell me in the exact same way, in that same moment! Jason is an actor, and when we met, he was working as a server in the restaurant industry…shortly after we met, he was cast as Ryuk in Netflix’s 2017 Death Note live-action film, then in the following year was cast as George in RAMPAGE (2018), and then was cast as King Ghidorah’s center head and as Rhodan in GODZILLA: King of the Monsters (2019). Needless to say, the last 3 years have been a whirlwind!

How They Asked

We celebrated my birthday at Disneyland last year, and Jason asked me which part of the park was my favorite. I am a huge Disney nerd, and I love New Orleans Square the most—so we went there for a picture…or so I thought! Right near the exit of Pirates, Jason had me stand in place and asked a random Guest to take a pic for us (and secretly asked him to video record).

He came over to me and pretended to tie his shoe…and I looked down at him, very confused as to why he was choosing this moment to tie his shoe, and then saw the ring in his hand! I was totally in shock because I did not expect for us to get engaged last year…but I was over the moon and would have totally teared up if I wasn’t so overwhelmed! We were married in a civil ceremony this past March, and our formal wedding will be March 2020!!!
