Where to Propose in At the brides parents house

How We Met

Grant and I met 7 years ago at a high school basketball game. A friend of mine convinced me to go (so glad she did!), because her boyfriend at the time was playing. We sat down in the stands, and as the game was going on, I noticed a guy on the other team who just happened to be one of the best looking guys I have ever laid eyes on. So, I decided to smile at him from afar, thinking he wouldn’t even notice me. To my surprise, as he sunk a 3-point shot, he winked at me! In that moment, my heart sunk to the floor. It was like my soul was trying to tell me I had just met my person. After the game, my friends and I were sitting in the school cafeteria. My friends thought the guys from the other school were cute too, so they called some of them over. My future husband was wearing a green shirt, so I knew him as the boy in the green shirt. Eventually, I learned his name, even though both of us were too nervous to really talk (we were only 15!). I added him on Facebook later that night, and we had a very short conversation, but it ended with Grant asking for my phone number. We would text on and off for months and hang out occasionally, but it was nothing ever serious. We actually dated other people during this time, too! Eventually, in November of 2011, Grant asked me to be his girlfriend in my parents driveway. From then on, we continued to fall in love and figure out that we were meant to be together.

how they asked

On June 10th, 2017, I was applying to consolidate my college loans. I had just graduated on May 13th, and was anxiously awaiting Grant to someday ask me to marry him. We picked out the ring together in October of 2016, so I knew that any day could be the day! Grant was being a little quiet about our plans that weekend, so I was hoping he would propose after dinner! I wasn’t sure where we were going, but I was excited to just spend time with him! After I was done with my loans, I started to get ready for our date! I was supposed to drive to Grant’s house that afternoon when I was done getting ready. I had just finished my hair, when I saw his yellow car coming down my street. I was still wearing my robe, and didn’t have any makeup on! He came to the door with beautiful daisies (some of my favorite flowers) and came in. I thanked him for the flowers, and took them to put them in water. I started walking to the kitchen and he was following me. I asked why he was there and what we were doing, when we got to the kitchen. He then said, “Are you going to look at them?” I looked and the flowers and turned them around, when I suddenly saw my beautiful ring staring back at me. I realized that this was the moment I had been waiting for for what had seemed like forever. I looked at Grant and he was getting down on one knee. I immediately started to cry and fell to my knees. I was so surprised (and I’m hard to surprise!) and so happy! There were so many emotions so before he could even officially ask me, I said “YES!”. He said, “I didn’t ask you yet! But will you marry me?” And I had to say yes again! It was a beautiful and personal moment between us. Though we didn’t have a photographer capture our proposal, we had our engagement pictures taken right before our 6 year dating anniversary! Our engagement was the best day ever and we can’t wait for our July wedding!
