How We Met
I have actually known Jeff since we were in middle school. Oddly enough, he “dated” my best friend when we were in school and the best part is that I set them up. I didn’t think much of Jeff when I was 11, all I remember thinking was that he was great at soccer and was good with the ladies. We both went to the same high school, he had a girlfriend at the time and I never dated in high school. Flash forward in time, in 2016 we met again. We both love hockey, the LA Kings to be exact. Our mutual friend invited us both to an LA Kings watch party. I was hesitant on going since I was still healing from a break up, but I figured it might be nice to get out and socialize with people, plus I didn’t want to watch the hockey game alone. There Jeff was at the party and he flirted with me the whole night. I didn’t think much of it, but that night he messaged me on Facebook telling me how great I looked at the party and now the rest is history.
how they asked
Jeff plays hockey and I knew he would be leaving for Minnesota soon. The morning of the proposal, Jeff and I went to church. He told me he wanted to go to Target to buy some last minute items to pack. I said yes of course because I love Target and also I wanted him to have everything he needed. Well we get home to pack, and he started to act really weird. I offered to help him pack, and he refused. I asked why and he said it was because he had something in his pocket. I asked if he wanted me to reach for what was in his pocket, and he said “no, not yet. ” He said he needed to go to the bathroom. Well when he came out of the bathroom both is pockets now had something in them. He made me reach in one pocket first, and I pulled out a box. I opened it, and it was actually tissue paper coming out. I was upset but not surprised since Jeff is a goofball.
I then turned to leave the room, and he told me to stop. He told me I didn’t check the other pocket yet. I told him I didn’t want to. He said ” I think you need to”. So I reached into his pocket and my heart is pounding a hundred miles a minute. The ring box was actually really heavy. He looks at me and says ” I think this is the part where I am supposed to take it from you” He turns off the lights and the box actually glows in the dark!!!
HOW COOL IS THAT? Jeff got down on one knee and asked me the question I have been dying to hear since I was a little girl ” Baby, will you marry me?” and I cried and cried and told him ” 1000% YES!”. Honestly, the best day of my life so far besides our wedding day.
