How We Met
It was the summer of 2009 right before I started my senior year of high school. I was at a bonfire at my best friends house. I was texting one of my good guy friends; he said he was coming over and bringing a friend. This loud Chevy truck rolls up and in walks Kyle, this cute country boy. I knew I needed to talk to him. The first thing I liked about him was his sense of humor. We exchanged numbers and started texting after that. Kyle kept trying to meet up with me and stubborn me thought it was a good idea to play hard to get for a while. Well, he wasn’t going to put up with that. So we went our separate ways. (which wasn’t that far)
It wasn’t until the next summer that we started talking again. Kyle was working right down the street from me at a fertilizer company. We would also meet up on Friday nights to play slow pitch softball at the park. We double dated with some friends and started to really hit it off. I really liked this boy so we thought we would take our relationship to the next level. We had so much fun that summer and I never would’ve thought we would be where we are today, almost 7 years later!
how they asked
After 5 years of dating, I was ready to settle down together. Kyle and I had talked about our wedding and our lives together for years. We were renting a place for about 2 years and decided we really wanted to be in a house. I wanted a ring, he wanted a house so we settled on the house first. I knew the ring would come soon after. We moved into our home July 24, 2015. 3 months later in October, Kyle and I took a weekend road trip to Nashville, TN. We got there Friday afternoon and hit the town right away. We enjoyed the first night by watching local bands and having a few cocktails. The next day we had plans to go to Arrington Vineyards. Kyle, who rarely buys me clothes, bought me the cutest red dress. For some reason I didn’t think anything of it. Before doing any wine tastings, we decided to walk the grounds and check out the scenery. Kyle led us up this hill overlooking the winery. On the top of the hill was coincidently a table set up with flower, a stuffed bear and chocolates….it wasn’t for me. Joking with Kyle I said “Awe I thought you set that up for me.”
Kyle was panicking after that so he knew that he needed to do it soon. We were looking out at the mountains and the beautiful fall scenery when Kyle says my name. I turn around and he was down on one knee. I was shocked! Instant tears of joy flood my eyes as he asks me to be his wife. We were both on cloud nine after that. We celebrated with a hand picked bottle of wine after. I still don’t know how he hid the ring from me all day. He’s a sneaky one, and he made it a true surprise!
