How We Met
Our love story is a story of fate- like most couples nowadays, Aaron and I met online. In the Summer of 2013, we matched and started talking on the “Plenty of Fish” website. Not long after meeting we, unfortunately, parted ways, but I really just think its because the world wasn’t ready for love quite like ours yet.
Luckily for us, the internet was on our side. Where we matched again, a year later- but this time on “Tinder” in the Fall of 2014. I think the way the world works is that when you find someone who is your soul mate, the world will do everything in its power to make sure you cross paths again, and that’s exactly what it did.
We started from scratch, grabbed some coffee and visited the university’s Poster Fair together, and a few weeks later had our first official date night. Just two and a half years after our first date he proposed- and now the rest is history. Our love story is one for the books.
How They Asked
Aaron and I had been together only a short few months when we first said: “I Love You”. It was something that you just knew- something that felt so right, like the familiarity of your family home, a cozy old sweater, or one of your favorite books- it was something that we knew was right, and once you know- you know, right?
We were together about a year and a half when we decided we would start ring shopping together, we would go to Peoples, Bogarts, Crescent, anywhere and everywhere to see what we could find- and finally, I found what I thought was “The One”.
From then on, I would think of special occasions, and at what point I thought he might pop the question, and then we started to plan the trip of a lifetime- the kind that you would hope could bring something as magical as a proposal along with it- and that it did.
We planned our first trip to Europe together, where we would spend a few days in Ireland and Rome, before heading on a Greek Isle Cruise- pure magic.
At the beginning of our trip to Ireland, we had planned to attend the PS. I Love You Tour. A tour that I had been looking forward to for a really long time. The morning of, Aaron told me that he would have a surprise for me that day, and all I could think was “Oh my god, this must be it”. Quickly to my realization, I noticed that he had no way to carry the ring in a box with us on our travels that day, so I figured he had something different in mind for that evening, or maybe there wouldn’t be a proposal on this trip after all!
So I quickly switched gears and we got ready for our tour. We were able to visit Wicklow and Glendalough- where the mountains themselves were the backdrop of one of my all-time favorite movies – PS. I Love You.
At the top of the mountain, Aaron asked the tour guide if he could take our picture with the Guinness Lake in the background- and that’s when time seemed to stand still. He walked towards me, and I swore to him I knew something was happening- and then all of a sudden he got down on one knee, and we were able to get every moment on camera.
Aaron had said that he thought of this moment for weeks, knew exactly what he wanted to say- and ended up completely speechless. But the tears in both of our eyes said it all- as he uttered out the words – “Will You Marry Me?”
We spent the remainder of our trip celebrating at every port, dinner, and moment. It was a moment I would easily relive for the rest of my life.
When you get asked to spend the rest of your life with someone- you want the rest of your life to start, right away.
