How We Met
Way back in 2010, in college, I was walking back from class to my friend, Ashley’s house to hang out and have our usual girl talk. As I walked through the door, I realized it wasn’t just her there, Mohit and one of his friends were there as well. Ashley met them through one of her business classes and we all became friends afterward. I couldn’t stand him back then though. He was just the most obnoxiously confident person I have ever met and could barely hang out with him sometimes. Back then, we were also dating other people and were just friends.
Fast forward 6 years later, I was on my way to New York City on a girl’s trip with my mom and little cousins and low and behold after not talking to each other for 4 years, Mohit is sitting at the same gate as me going to New York as well. I quickly group texted my girlfriends to tell them who I just saw and of course, my friend Brooke was still in touch with him so she reached out to him asking if he was sitting at gate B16. He replied, “yes, are you?” She says, “no, but Alice is.” And of course, I didn’t want to be rude and not speak to him after he knew I was already there. So I go up to him and found out that his flight was the one before mine and it was delayed due to bad weather (we wouldn’t have seen each other if his flight wasn’t delayed.) We continuously chatted for the next hour before our flights boarded and after that, he never stopped texting me and the rest is history.
how they asked
Fast forward, to July 5, 2018, we are on our way back to New York City to spend some time with his family. In the morning, Mohit said, “get dressed, we’re going out for brunch.” We are walking to brunch and we drop into a bakery to get a pastry instead of getting brunch. I am confused. Mohit says, “we’ll eat something quick first and go for a walk and get a real brunch after.” So I’m okay with this because, double food, win-win! We are taking our walk along the Brooklyn Pier and towards the end of the pier, he says, “2 years, ago we came here our separate ways and we just spent the last 2 years together, will you spend the next 70 with me?” YES, YES, YES!
Mohit was a very good planner in this whole process, he had a photographer hidden away and one of my best friends and her boyfriend waiting for us after it all happened. The fun part was the photographer took us on an engagement shoot around Brooklyn after. It was one of the best moments of my life. It’s just crazy how timing and fate work together to bring someone into your life.
