How We Met

We actually met on bumble! How else do millennials meet! Haha, He had just moved to Arlington, Virginia right outside of DC, and I had lived there for about 6 years. I was the first bumble date. I can’t say the same for myself, but as soon as we started talking I knew it was going to be different, I knew this was something special. While talking on our first date, our waitress actually told us that we reminded her of her daughter and son-in-law, who had met online a couple of years earlier and are now happily married. On the first date that did make us slightly uncomfortable but looking back, WOW! We had the most amazing dinner conversation, and after we finished our meal he asked me to go to the bar, at the same restaurant with him to get a drink to continue our amazing date! We had a drink and then it was getting late and time to go home. He was completely a gentleman and opened the door for me, and then my car door for me. I thought, maybe, that since the date went so well that he might give me a kiss. But he gave me a hug, and as I now like to give him a hard time about, about ran away from, or at least walked away very quickly, and I thought I must have screwed up the date. But I was wrong, everything with the date went perfect, and we were inseparable since then.

How They Asked

Where do I start?! We had planned this 12 day trip to Ireland for September. We choose Ireland actually on our first date! I asked the simple where would you like to travel questions, and the first place out of both of our mouths was Ireland. We had our entire trip planned, and little did I know he was planning a proposal!! One of the things we were both very excited about during our trip was seeing the Cliffs of Moher! Phil had convinced me that seeing it at sunset would be the best time to go see them, and everything I was reading about definitely agreed so there was no convincing me! The night before the day we were supposed to go to the Cliffs of Moher, the weather was not looking promising. Its Ireland so it obviously rains a lot, but we were really hoping we were going to catch a break with the rain. The weather was also going to be really bad with a 100% chance of rain after 5 pm, aka sunset. So he changed his tune and suggested we visit the Cliffs of Moher visitor center at 11 am, and this more private location he had gotten from his Cardiac Rehab patient at 1 pm.

When we got to the Cliffs of Moher visitor, it was really really foggy, we could barely see any of the Cliffs. We walked on some more to the other side of the visitor center and then got a nice view of the Cliffs. Up until this point we had avoided any rain! But then it started pouring, but he suggested we still drive and then walk to this private location his “patient” had given him. It seemed like the rain had kind of stopped again while driving to the parking coordinates he was given, but when we got out of the car it started raining again. Once we got to the location we had the most amazing private views of the Cliffs, there was only one other person there with their dog taking pictures. We walk to the edge of the Cliff and just stare out to enjoy the view.

Then he grabs both of my hands, looks me in the eyes, and tells me how happy I make him, and how much he loves me, and he reaches for his pocket and gets down on one knee to ask me to marry him, and of course, without any hesitation, I said YES!!! I was so ecstatic! Once I finally stopped kissing and hugging him, I realized that the other person there was actually taking pictures of US!! And this location I thought he had gotten from his “patient” was really from the photographer!! It was rainy, windy, and foggy, and every single thing was one thousand percent perfect, and the pictures prove it. I am the luckiest girl to spend the rest of my life with the most amazing man.
