How We Met
Back in high school over one summer, I went to go visit my best friend who lived about an hour and a half away from me. She told me she had a friend (Matt) in her neighborhood who wanted us to come over to watch a movie and play Rock Band. I thought he was pretty cute but would have never admitted that since I was extremely shy. After a few rounds of playing and watching a scary movie, we headed back to her house. I never thought anything of it or him after that and we both continued on with our own lives. Fast forward a few years and we are now both at UCF. It’s 2014 and Tinder has entered the world and took over college campuses everywhere. I never wanted to download it or take it seriously, but with some convincing from my friends to see what all the hype was about, I downloaded the app. Nothing really came out of it until one day of aimless swiping, a familiar face popped up on my screen. Immediately I smiled and thought to myself “Hey I know him!”. I took the chance and swiped right and was instantly matched with him. I had hoped he recognized me (even though he only met me that one time all those years ago) and I waited for a message to come through. When a couple of days went by, I was feeling risky and took my chance to message him first. We instantly hit it off and couldn’t stop talking. When we both agreed to go out for Sushi a few days later, I was so excited to see him in person. He was such a gentleman and the date felt like we had been friends forever with an easy flow of conversation. I couldn’t wait to see him again. We were pretty inseparable after that!
How They Asked
So our 7 year anniversary was coming up and we had made plans to stay at a hotel on the beach for the weekend. It was going to be pretty chill with hanging out on the beach during the day and then dinner later that night. Matt had told me a few weeks before that he heard about a new bar at the end of the beach that he wanted to take me to for a drink before dinner. I didn’t really think anything of it since I’m always down to try new places.
So once we were done getting ready and started heading over to the “bar”, I then began to realize that there was nothing but condos in that direction. I got a suspicious feeling when all of a sudden, out of the corner of my eye I saw a handwritten sign that said: “You are my forever”. Matt noticed my realization and as he started pulling me in the direction of this grassy area, the tears started to flow. After he asked and I said yes, my parents came out of the bushes to surprise me along with a beautiful picnic all set up with a charcuterie board and lots of bubbly. It was the best night of my life!
