How We Met: August 2010, It was my junior year of college and I was at school a few weeks early for cheer camp. One day I heard some music downstairs so I went to see if our neighbors had moved in. Erik opened the door, I had never seen him before but it turned out that he had moved in early because he was on the football team! We were both originally from northern California but living in Southern California for college. We continued to run into each other because of football and cheer.
As time went on, we spent lots of time together with our roommates watching movies, making dinners, pulling pranks on each other and making the best memories of our lives. I soon learned that Erik was not just the most handsome man I had ever seen, but that he was smart and also hilarious, had a heart of gold, and was always able to make me smile.
About 7 months later he took me on our first “adventure,” and 3 months after that he asked me to be his girlfriend!! By this time, I knew I was falling in love and I could only dream that one day I would get to marry him. Little did I know that over the next four years our relationship would blossom and our adventures would multiply!!
how they asked: February 2015, It was a rainy and I was with my family on the way to San Francisco for what I thought was my uncles birthday party! When we were just about to go over the bridge my aunt insisted we pull off the freeway which exited to Treasure Island in San Francisco, a place that Erik and I had gone to on one of our first dates. When we took the exit and turned the corner the rain stopped suddenly and the clouds parted to reveal the most gorgeous sunset I had ever seen.
It was truly breathtaking. We pulled into the parking lot and jumped out of the car to take some photos. As I was taking a photo with my mom I felt someone squeezing my hand. When I turned around, to my complete surprise, Erik was standing in front of me in a brand new blue suit with the biggest smile on his face and a bouquet of beautiful sunflowers (my favorite flowers).
I immediately realized what was about to happen and I started to cry. He took me by the hand and walked me over to a sunflower arch he had built. He got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him and through the tears of my happiness and excitement I said yes and reached for a hug! He picked me up and spun me around and pulled out the most gorgeous ring I have ever seen!
When I turned around both of our families and extended family were there cheering for us!! I couldn’t be more excited to adventure through this life with the man of my dreams and my very best friend!!
