How We Met
I met Corey in February 2020 right around the time I was wrapping up my third season as a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader! He is from Ontario, Canada and was down in Texas playing professional hockey for the Allen Americans. I came across his profile on Instagram & decided to give him a follow. In true millennial fashion he “slid in the DM’s” and asked me on a date! From the moment we met, I knew that he was something special. He was kind, gentle, funny, & so easy to talk to. I knew that night that he could be the man I was going to marry. I vividly remember calling my mom & all my friends and telling them that I had a feeling that he was the one!
We began dating shortly after that & navigated the entire beginning of our relationship through the start of the pandemic. What better way to fall in love and get to know someone than during a lockdown? His visa extended through the end of the summer, so he decided to stay down in Texas once his season ended and eventually never left! The past 2 years have been incredible & our love continues to grow each and every day. I truly could not have asked for a more incredible man to be my husband. He is everything that I prayed for and more!
How They Asked
It was the day before New Year’s Eve and a few girls and I had plans to go to a birthday happy hour for one of our friends. During the day, my friend Ashley who is a makeup artist asked if she could do my makeup for fun before. All the girls also said they felt like getting dressed up, so I put on a new black dress that I had recently ordered (they did such a great job at making sure I felt confident & looking my best)! On the way there, my friend Rachel distracted me by asking me my opinion and showing me various things she was wanting to put into her new apartment. All of a sudden the car began to stop and when I looked up, Corey was at the door! I got out of the car and saw rose petals and flowers laid out in between a beautiful parallel line of trees in the distance. He said “are you ready?” and we continued to walk over to the setup.
Another one of my friends is an incredible wedding photographer (Melissa Hailey Photo) and she was standing there ready to capture our special moment. He had the perfect speech planned and got down on one knee and asked me to Marry him! We were both in tears and I literally felt like I was dreaming! We then popped some champagne to celebrate and took more pictures. Shortly after, we went to a restaurant downtown to grab a drink and some appetizers. Corey played “our song” in the car and we were in tears again during one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen! I left my phone in my friend’s car because I was so shocked when he opened the door, so I was able to be completely in the moment with just him and me.
This also kept me from opening social media and realizing that all of my friends and family were waiting at another location to celebrate us! Once we were finished, Corey took me there and we went all the way up 45 floors to the roof that overlooked Downtown Dallas. We walked in and sure enough, all of my friends and family were there to celebrate us! From the food & drink spread to the decor, he and my best friends did an incredible job at making sure every detail was special. It was truly the best night of my life, and I still can’t believe that I get to marry the man of my dreams. He couldn’t have planned a more beautiful proposal and we are so excited to plan the wedding!!!
