How We Met: Brad and I met in high school in the yearbook club. He was a senior about to go to West Point and I was a sophomore who barely knew his name. Apparently he thought I was really cute, but was too afraid to ask me out. Luckily, one of his friends dared him to ask me out for Valentine’s Day that upcoming Saturday. I agreed and we went for dinner that Saturday where we had a wonderful date.
We had so much fun talking we didn’t want the date to end, so we drove around the town until he accidentally ran out of gas! Fast forward to today, now Brad is a West Point graduate and 1st Lieutenant in the Army and I am a college graduate. We are about to start our lives together in Fort Richardson, Alaska!
how they asked: Brad and I were on vacation in Newport, Rhode Island where we were touring the historic Newport mansions. When we finished touring the Elms mansion, we went to the back to see the beautiful rose gardens. There was no one around and the weather was perfect. I set up my camera on a self timer on a fountain so that we could take a picture together, but I wasn’t satisfied with the first picture we took. I jokingly told him, “Do something cute this time!”
The timer started blinking and he got down on one knee. I almost thought he was kidding, but then I saw the ring!
