How We Met
In May 2015 I started my Disney College Program, an 8-month long internship working in The Most Magical Place on Earth; Little did I know, I would also be meeting the love of my life there! Alex and I started talking about a month prior to moving to Florida for our internship, we connected through the Disney College Program Facebook page with no idea we would end up where we are today. The first day of our program we met in person and have been inseparable ever since. Alex asked me to be his girlfriend on June 10, 2015, on Main Street USA, in front of Cinderella’s castle, during the Wishes Firework Show. We spent 7 months making tons of magical memories and spending all of our free time together in the parks! As our program came to an end, we decided that I would move back to his hometown of Bloomington, IL rather than returning home to Long Island, NY. We have been happily living together in Illinois for 2 years now!
how they asked
The last few months of 2017 brought a promotion for me and a new job offer/career for Alex, we thought “What a better way to celebrate than in our favorite place!?” and immediately booked a Disney Trip! Alex would be leaving for Police Academy in mid-January, so we booked our trip for December 16th – December 23rd. While I was counting down the days to Disney, Alex was counting down the days until he would propose! We arrived in Orlando midday on the 16th, checked in to our resort, stocked up on some groceries/essentials, and attended Star Wars Galactic Nights that evening. The next morning, December 17, 2017, Alex let me sleep in and take my time getting ready so I could look my best for our first official day in the parks.. not sure how this wasn’t a red flag for me since Alex usually wants to get to the parks as early as possible. We arrived at the Magic Kingdom at around 10 am and met up with some of our really good friends from our College Program. Somebody suggested that we take some pictures in front of the castle so we quickly found a Disney Photopass photographer to capture the moment and to my surprise, his proposal! We took a few pictures with Steve and Christine and then decided to get a few of just us. The photographer got a few pictures of us smiling in front of Cinderella’s Castle and just when I thought we were done, I heard Alex ask for “one more picture”.
I turned to face him as he was dropping down to one knee! My initial response (and we have TWO videos to prove it) was to yell “YOU ARE NOT..” but he in fact WAS! The next 30 or so seconds were full of me sobbing and all the Disney guests around us cheering. Alex asked me to “make the rest of his life magical, and marry him”, I, of course, said yes! He fumbled to put my dream ring on my finger as we were both shaking (and laughing) so hard, we took a ton more pictures, and immediately FaceTimed our families to share the most magical moment of my life.
The rest of our trip was spent celebrating our engagement in the place where we met and fell in love. The only thing more amazing than Disney magic itself is sharing it with the love of your life, your best friend, your fiancé!
