How We Met
Matt and I met at a golf course in 2011. I was working in the pro shop and he came in to play a round of golf. He paid for his round and left and then came back in and started talking to me. He told me I should go to his first college basketball game of the season. I assured him I would be there. A few days later I ran into Matt again. We started talking and found out we had some crazy things in common like the fact that I attended the same high school as his dad – two hours away. From then on I knew he was someone special! Our first photo together was on our first date. We walked around downtown St. Augustine and looked at all the Christmas lights. We were talking so long we walked a few miles! It was amazing.
How They Asked
Matt somehow kept the proposal a secret for two months! Everyone knew but me. We planned a dinner with his family downtown St. Augustine to see the Christmas lights. Before the dinner, I was taking pictures of Matts brother and sister in law for what I thought was their Christmas card. Turns out that was just a way to get me to the proposal spot. It had been raining all day but the rain stopped as soon as we walked to the Lightner Museum.
We were taking pictures on the bridge and then all of a sudden Matt got down on one knee! He had a photographer to capture it all! We celebrated after and then drove to the golf course where we first met for a surprise engagement party! All my friends and family were there! It was the most amazing day ever. My cheeks still hurt from smiling so much!
