How We Met
Ozzie & I met when I just 14 & he was 16. A friend of mine was dating his best friend. One afternoon over winter break, Madison called me to ask if I wanted to go to the mall with her. I was a little hesitant because I didn’t want to be the third wheel, so she says to me just come, you’ll meet your future husband. After hearing that, I was all in! When we get to the mall and I saw Ozzie for the first time, we both locked eyes and knew something special was there. At the time he had a girlfriend, so he just kept smiling & winking at me the entire night. After the mall, we all packed into one car to be dropped off at home.
As we pulled in front of my house the driver of the car, Justin, asked me for my phone number & if he could take me out. I said I’m sorry, I’m just not interested. A little sad Ozzie didn’t ask me, Madison told me as we got out the car, don’t worry he asked me for your number. As soon as we went inside I told my mom I’ve met my future husband & showed her his myspace! Then I asked what age could I be engaged, haha. Shortly after, Ozzie began texting & calling me every day. We became friends for about 8 months before actually dating. But ever since that day at the mall, we haven’t gone a day without talking to each other.
How They Asked
After dating for 9 years, Ozzie was feeling the pressure to propose. He always told me he wanted to marry me, since the night we met. Over the years I made plenty of comments about how I wanted my proposal to be. I gave him strict instructions to not propose to me in front of a crowd of people, a restaurant, or anywhere else people could see. I always wanted a private moment for just the two of us. I know it I didn’t give those instructions Ozzie would have proposed to me in a restaurant. So this made him have to think about the proposal location. The night he proposed, we were planning a date night, something we do once a week. So I wasn’t expecting anything out of the ordinary.
He told me he found a Groupon deal for the Ferris wheel downtown. We never got to check out the new attraction, so I was excited to see how pretty all the city lights would be. After dinner, we started our walk to the Ferris wheel. I could see Ozzie was acting a little weird. I figured it was just because he was tired of working that morning. Once we got in our private pod & started making our way up, Ozzie began to tell me how much he loved me & always knew he wanted this moment with me. Once we made it to the top of the Ferris wheel, he quickly dropped to one knee & asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes! Once we made it back down the Skyview workers announced that we just got engaged & everyone started to clap & cheer for us! It was such a perfect way to privately propose.
